Mardi Gras Fun to Benefit Children with Special Needs

POMPANO BEACH FL (12.30.04) – Get ready to party like it’s 1699. Beta Sigma Phi is holding an evening of traditional Mardi Gras Fun modeled on the original New Orleans’ gala held at the end of the 17th century.
The event is to be held at the Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club on Saturday February 19th 2005 at 7:00pm and will benefit Broward Children’s Center. The Center is a private nonprofit that provides medical, educational and therapeutic services to infants, children and young adults with special needs.
“The event promises to be a fun-filled night of cocktails, food, raffles, silent auctions and much more,” said Beta Sigma Phi spokesperson, Kathy Carroll. “Please join us for the Mardi Gras merriment and help improve the lives of some of the most medically fragile children in the country.”
The gala continues an ongoing Beta Sigma Phi commitment to the Center, which has seen the social service sorority contribute more than $40,000 to the Pompano Beach-based nonprofit since 2001. The Lighthouse Point chapter is part of the international Beta Sigma Phi sororities, whose members around the world raise more than $3 million for local charities and donate more than two million volunteer hours in an average year.
“Beta Sigma Phi and the dedicated members of its Lighthouse Point chapter are yet again working hard to provide vital funding to improve the lives of those with special needs,” said Broward Children’s Center CEO, Marjorie Evans. “We’re honored and privileged to be the beneficiary of their unwavering commitment to the infants, children and young adults we serve.”
